Introduction to Space Engineering

The Course Introduction to Space Engineering just started at University Santa Maria la Antigua (USMA), School of Electronics as an elective course. This is the first course of it kinds in Central America.

This Course is intended to explain several introductory concepts of Space Industry and an Overview of Space Exploration with a historical background from the launch of Sputnik in 1957 to the Current Private development by companies like SpaceX, Blue Origin,  Space Agencies like NASA, ESA, among others.

We will emphasize on current trends: Mars Exploration, Small-Satellite developments and how USMA and Panama could contribute and participate in collaborative projects with other universities in the Central America region.

1st Central American Space Generation Workshop Costa Rica (CA-SGW 2019)

The 1st Central American Space Generation Workshop held on the 22nd & 23rd of February in San Jose, Costa Rica (CA-SGW 2019), gathered young professionals and students from 6 different countries in Central America, to generate ideas and projects to promote Space interest in the region

Eng. Angel Arcia (Professor USMA, Ph.D. Candidate UVigo), made the presentation: “Potential Contribution of PANAMA to develop the space Industry in Central America”
